Jane Allen is a highly accomplished screenwriter, script producer, and script editor with over 20 years of experience in the film and television industry. Her recent credits include Last King of the CrossTroppo100% Wolf: Legend of the Moonstone, Halifax: RetributionThe Heights, The New Legends of Monkey and The Unlisted, which won the 2020 Prix Jeunesse International Award for Outstanding Children’s Television. In May 2023, Jane completed Jeff Melvoin’s Showrunner Training in Los Angeles as part of The Creators, a program developed by the Australian Writers’ Guild and Screen Australia. In the US she also worked as a script editor on the US series Hunters and spent three months in the script department of CSI on an International Fellowship.

Jane’s session will cover all aspects of the writers’ room. Drawing on her decades of experience, Jane will talk about how to put together a room, how to create a safe space for creatives and how to ensure your room is operating effectively. She will also share brilliant insights and tips, including why the coffee run is about more than caffeine and how the Elf on the Shelf is your secret weapon.

Jane brings to this session a wealth of experience. In 2023, she was a co-executive producer and writer on In Our Blood. The ABC series was nominated for the AACTA Award for Best Miniseries in 2024 and Most Outstanding Drama at the 2023 Logie Awards. She also produced and was the lead writer for the award-winning ABC legal drama Janet King. Additionally, she was a writer and producer on the Indigenous sci-fi ABC series Cleverman.
