AI Script Coverage Services

Friday 3 July 2026 – The Australian Writers’ Guild is aware of a number of generative artificial intelligence (AI) script coverage services claiming to offer fast feedback and analysis of scripts for a fee. These services do not employ script assessors.

Seeking feedback on a script is a necessary and valuable part of the writing process. Script assessors develop their skills through years of experience as screenwriters, script editors and/or creatives, offering insight into a script’s structure, tone, characters, dialogue and viability in the market. Such expertise cannot and should not be replaced by generative AI.

These AI script coverage services come with a number of risks, including your script being stolen to feed Large Language Models (LLMs) and risks to a writers’ privacy. If a script reaches development, there are risks to the production company’s secondary liability for copyright infringement.

The AWG opposes the use of AI in the creative process. There is no replacement for the quality feedback an experienced human can provide to help you develop your craft.
