AWG statement on WGA Strike

The Creators Participants Announced

Screen Australia and the Australian Writers’ Guild have today announced the six participants selected for The Creators, a dynamic career acceleration program for high-calibre Australian screenwriters to hone their skills and further develop a slate of premium Australian television.

Digital Games Tax Offset

The legislation implementing the Digital Games Tax Offset was recently tabled in the lower house of Australian Parliament. It is a 30% rebate on the development costs of video games in Australia and specifically states that writers are covered by the definition of eligible costs, including contract workers.

Screen Australia and the Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG) are pleased to announce The Creators, a new career acceleration program for high-calibre mid-career screenwriters to build toward the creation of their own shows. Through the initiative, up to six writers with existing episodic slates will be selected to travel to Los Angeles to participate in training, industry meetings, networking events and attend Content LA in 2023.
