The Australian Writers’ Guild is thrilled to announce Event Cinemas, Australia’s most iconic and enduring cinema chains, as a major sponsor for the 51st Annual AWGIE Awards

Some of Australia’s most exciting and in-demand screen and stage writers have come together to form the newly appointed Australian Writers’ Guild Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee (DIAC), with their program of events, partnerships and opportunities championing greater inclusion and equal opportunity for screenwriters already attracting the praise of some of the leading figures in the industry.

The performers, writers and directors who will participate in Australia’s first Diversity Showcase have been selected by industry judging panels from an impressive field of applicants.

Funded by a bequest from the late Australian film critic John Hinde, the the John Hinde Award for Excellence in Science-Fiction Writing is the richest science-fiction screenwriting award in Australia, offering $10,000 for the best produced script and professional support for the best unproduced script.
