Save the date for National Screenwriters' Conference

The Australian Writers Guild has announced that the 2016 National Screenwriters Conference will be hosted in Victoria from 9-11 March, with the theme “What’s the Story: The writer in the picture”.AWG Executive Director Jacqueline Elaine said they hope to attract more than 300 delegates to the event on Phillip Island, bringing together leading local and international screenwriters and industry professionals working across film, television and digital content.Ms Elaine said the Guild was thrilled to have Film Victoria on board as the major partner.“The National Screenwriters Conference is a substantial event, both for Victorian writers and for the Australian industry,” she said. “It would not be possible without the support of Film Victoria and the many volunteer writers who bring it to life.”The Andrews Labor Government said the 2016 National Screenwriters Conference - which aims to promote the skills and talent of Australian screenwriters and develop creative and commercial partnerships among writers and producers - would boost the local screen industry and regional Victoria’s economy.Victoria’s Minister for Creative Industries, Martin Foley, said: “Victoria is home to many highly talented screenwriters and we look forward to welcoming the National Screenwriters Conference to Victoria in 2016.”“Next year will be busy for our local screen industry and our creative industries.
