![]() The National Screenwriters Conference is a must for every writer working in film, television and new media.A biennial event presented by the Australian Writers' Guild, the conference features panel discussions, case studies, networking opportunities, micro-mentorships and exclusive masterclasses with international guests. The 2013 NSC will be held from 20-22 February on the stunning Mornington Peninsula, just one hour from Melbourne. Titled 'What Happens Next? The Screenwriters' Journey', the conference will bring together leading local and international screenwriters and industry professionals, to develop creative and commercial partnerships, analyse industry developments and discuss the creative process. Panels will include Interactive Storytelling, a case study of The Sapphires, The Secret of Comedy, What's Love Got to Do With It?, and Once Upon a Crime. Once again we have a stellar list of guest speakers, with Paul Abbott (Shameless, Children's Ward, Touching Evil, Clocking Off) headlining and many more guests to be announced shortly. In 2011 the conference key note speakers included Shane Brennan (Showrunner NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles), Nicholas Meyer (The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, Star Trek II, IV and VI), Jimmy McGovern (Cracker, Hillsborough, The Streets, The Lakes, Sunday) and David Williamson AO (Balibo, Gallipoli, The Club, The Removalists).
