| From www.awg.com.au Why Join the AWG? As the peak national organisation for performance writers, your Guild membership increases the bargaining power and standing of all writers working within the screen, theatre, radio and performance industries. And while the Guild boasts many domestic successes over a 40 year history, we're also working to ensure Australian writers are given the support they need to succeed in the global marketplace.
There are three levels of membership: Full, Associate and Student. All levels of membership grant you access to industry information through our publications (Storyline and our fortnightly electronic newsletter), as well as a wide range of industrial services including free legal and contractual advice. As a member you are eligible to enter the AWGIE Awards - recognised as the premier event rewarding Australian performance writing excellence - unique in judging entries on strength of script alone. You will also be able to take advantage of our script registration service to protect your ideas, and make use of our highly regarded script assessment service - a professional appraisal of your writing from an experienced script editor. Most importantly, in joining with other writing professionals, you will be contributing to the health of Australian performance writing culture and all it's communities. Without the support and advice of the Guild over the past 40 years, many successful writers would never have had the chance to develop the careers they now cherish. More than ever, if you are serious about writing it is essential that you become a member. Put simply, it's the best investment you can make in your career.
